Six months of observed Skinvive benefit is a reason to reassess, not an automatic date for another injection. At UH CELL Newsroom, we distinguish how long an effect was observed from when another treatment may be appropriate. The manufacturer’s US guidance recommends an evaluation every six months to determine whether retreatment is needed, not treatment for everyone on that schedule.

What did the six-month result measure?
According to the US Food and Drug Administration’s 2023 approval overview, a clinical study involving 209 participants found that improvement in cheek skin smoothness lasted at least six months. The US approval covers improvement in cheek skin smoothness in adults age 21 and older.
That finding does not guarantee the same duration for every person. It also does not establish that full-face lifting or increased volume lasts six months. US approval data should not be treated as a universal treatment schedule for procedures performed in Korea.
At six months, assess the need before repeating treatment
Allergan Aesthetics’ US FAQ explains that a touch-up treatment may be needed to achieve the desired result. It also recommends seeing a healthcare professional every six months to assess whether retreatment is necessary. An evaluation date and an injection date are not the same thing.
If you are considering another treatment, prepare a short summary to share with your healthcare professional:
- The date of your previous treatment.
- The concerns you still have about your skin.
- Any reactions you experienced after treatment, including symptoms that remain.
The point is to discuss whether another treatment is needed, and when, based on your current condition rather than the calendar alone.
Report any lingering reactions first
Allergan Aesthetics’ safety information lists reported reactions including swelling, bruising, lumps, and nodules. If these symptoms remain, have them evaluated before proceeding with another treatment. The manufacturer also advises delaying treatment if there is an infection or an inflammatory skin condition at the intended injection site.
The FDA lists contraindications including a history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies, as well as allergies to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins. The manufacturer also lists a history of allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers as a contraindication. Tell your healthcare professional about any of these histories before treatment.
If you experience vision changes, whitening of the skin, or unusual pain during or immediately after treatment, alert a healthcare professional and seek care immediately.
Six months is not an automatic retreatment deadline. Results, skin reactions, and recovery time vary between individuals. We encourage you to base the next treatment decision on your current skin condition and your response to the previous treatment, not elapsed time alone.
