The manufacturer’s US instructions do not recommend Ultherapy directly over areas containing dermal fillers. At UH CELL Newsroom, we emphasize the distinction between having a history of filler treatment and treating directly over an area where filler is present. That precaution alone does not determine whether treatment elsewhere on the face is appropriate.

What does the manufacturer’s precaution cover?
Ulthera, Inc., the manufacturer of Ultherapy, states in its US Ultherapy PRIME Instructions for Use that use directly over areas containing dermal fillers has not been evaluated. For that reason, treatment directly over those areas is not recommended.
This is a precaution in the US instructions. It is not a blanket rule determining treatment eligibility in Korea. Nor does it mean that everyone who has had fillers must avoid Ultherapy across the entire face, or that avoiding the filler areas makes treatment appropriate for everyone.
The distinction matters: “not evaluated” and “not recommended” do not establish that Ultherapy will necessarily dissolve or alter filler. This precaution alone does not prove a specific type of damage.
Does waiting make treatment appropriate?
The precaution in the US Ultherapy PRIME Instructions for Use does not specify a waiting period after which treatment directly over filler becomes acceptable. It therefore cannot support a universal recommendation to wait a certain number of weeks before proceeding.
Elapsed time should not be read as permission to treat an area containing filler. The question is not simply how long ago the filler was injected, but how the existing filler areas relate to the proposed Ultherapy treatment areas.
What should you prepare before consultation?
We suggest gathering the following information to help explain your filler history:
- The filler product name, if known.
- The areas where it was injected.
- The date of treatment.
- Any available records of the procedure.
If you do not remember a detail, say that it is unknown rather than guessing. These are suggestions for consultation preparation, not a guarantee that records alone can establish whether treatment is appropriate.
Our main point is to distinguish existing filler areas from planned Ultherapy treatment areas rather than relying on a waiting period alone. Share your filler history and discuss whether treatment in the relevant area is appropriate with a medical professional.
