Can Skinvive Fill Hollow Cheeks?

Skinvive’s cheek-smoothness results do not establish that it fills hollow cheeks. We explain the distinction, the clinical findings, and key injection risks.

If your goal is to fill hollow cheeks, we distinguish Skinvive’s skin-smoothing purpose from volume replacement. At UH CELL Newsroom, we separate smoother cheek skin from a change that fills a sunken contour. Clinical findings about skin smoothness do not establish that Skinvive restores lost cheek volume.

Can Skinvive Fill Hollow Cheeks?

Smoother skin is different from fuller cheeks

In its US product information, manufacturer Allergan Aesthetics describes Skinvive as hyaluronic acid microdroplets that improve cheek skin smoothness. It distinguishes this purpose from changing the face’s shape or volume. The ingredient name, hyaluronic acid, is not enough to conclude that a product will fill hollow cheeks.

Our Skinvive treatment information also focuses on hydration and skin texture. Adding moisture should not be understood as filling a sunken facial contour.

What the clinical findings establish

Allergan Aesthetics’ US information describes Skinvive as an injection into the dermis, a layer of the skin, to improve cheek skin smoothness in adults over 21. The manufacturer reports that improvements in cheek smoothness among clinical study participants lasted through six months.

That finding does not establish a reduction in cheek hollowness or an increase in cheek volume. If hollow cheeks are your main concern, make clear during your assessment whether you want to change the contour rather than the skin’s surface texture.

Consider injection risks alongside the intended change

Our treatment information notes the possibility of bruising and swelling. Allergan Aesthetics also advises against use in people with:

  • A history of anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction.
  • Multiple severe allergies.
  • An allergy to lidocaine or proteins from gram-positive bacteria.
  • A previous allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid fillers.

The manufacturer warns that injection into a blood vessel, although rare, can cause serious complications, including vision impairment, stroke, and permanent skin scarring.

If you notice vision changes, skin turning white, or unusual pain during or immediately after treatment, alert the medical team immediately.

Skin reactions and recovery time vary from person to person. We encourage you to explain the change you want and share your allergy history with the medical team so that treatment suitability can be assessed based on your diagnosis.
