SKINVIVE: Do You Need Retreatment Every Six Months?

| Input:

SKINVIVE’s six-month skin-smoothness result is not a fixed retreatment schedule. We explain what the FDA findings mean and what to discuss before another treatment.

Repeat SKINVIVE treatment is not automatically needed every six months. The “six-month duration” in our official treatment guide is neither a guarantee of individual results nor an instruction to repeat treatment every six months. How long an effect was observed and when another treatment becomes appropriate are different questions.

SKINVIVE: Do You Need Retreatment Every Six Months?

What did the six-month result measure?

According to the US Food and Drug Administration’s 2023 approval overview, a clinical trial involving 209 participants found that improvement in cheek skin smoothness lasted at least six months. The US approval covers improvement in cheek skin smoothness in adults aged 21 and older.

That finding does not establish that hydration, volume, or lifting effects all last for the same period.

The FDA’s patient labeling from the same approval materials describes a study design that allowed a touch-up about one month after initial treatment and offered repeat injections after six months. This should not be read as a promise that a single treatment lasts exactly six months for everyone.

Base retreatment on your current concerns

The same FDA patient labeling describes repeat injections as additional treatment to help maintain the desired cosmetic result after the initial effect begins to diminish. The point at which repeat injections were offered in the study does not establish a necessary treatment interval for every person.

When discussing another treatment, tell the medical team which skin concerns remain and whether you had any uncomfortable reactions after your previous treatment. The question is whether additional treatment is needed for your current concerns, not simply whether six months have passed.

Share previous reactions and medical history

According to the FDA patient labeling, SKINVIVE must not be used in people with a history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies, allergies to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins, or previous allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers.

The labeling also warns about bruising, swelling, and pain, as well as rare but serious risks from injection into a blood vessel, including vision impairment. If you experience vision changes or unusual pain during or immediately after treatment, tell the medical team immediately.

Skin reactions and recovery time vary from person to person. Discuss your remaining concerns, previous reactions, and medical history with a medical professional so that any further treatment is based on an individual assessment.
