We list Skinvive as a skin booster. For treatment planning, separate the question of product classification from the US-approved goal of improving cheek skin smoothness.

Does a filler classification mean volume correction?
A product’s classification and its specific approved use need to be considered separately. Allergan Aesthetics describes Skinvive as a hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to improve skin smoothness in the cheeks. That US approval should not be read as authorization or evidence for treatment of every area in Korea.
Wanting smoother cheek skin and wanting to fill a hollow area are different treatment goals. Evidence for improved cheek skin smoothness should not be treated as proof of volume correction. At the same time, that evidence alone does not establish that no volume change can occur.
Consider the specific product and intended treatment area rather than relying on the term “skin booster.”
What should you check before treatment?
Start by explaining whether you want to improve skin texture or address lost volume. Before treatment at our clinic in Korea, ask the medical team about:
- The product to be used and the intended treatment area.
- Its approved uses in Korea, rather than assuming US approval applies there.
- Potential adverse reactions and contraindications.
Also share your allergy history and any previous aesthetic treatments.
Discuss your intended change and individual suitability with the medical team, rather than choosing treatment by the labels “filler” and “skin booster” alone.
Skin reactions and recovery times vary from person to person. Consult the medical team for an individual assessment and treatment plan.
