You can get dermatology treatment in Seoul without speaking Korean, but the order you do things in matters more than the language itself. Send your treatment history, allergies, and travel dates before you land, schedule your procedure early in the trip, and know where you'll recover before you book. At our Gangnam location, staff who speak Japanese, Chinese, and English are on hand, and the clinic sits inside the same hotel many patients already stay in.
I'm Dr. Kim Yeonjin, director of the Gangnam location at UH CELL Clinic. About 90 percent of the patients I see here travel from outside Korea, so I've learned to walk people through the language question in order: what to send before arrival, when to schedule, and where to recover once the appointment is done.
According to a report the Ministry of Health and Welfare released in April 2026, 2.01 million foreign patients came to Korea for medical care in 2025, the first time that figure has passed 2 million since the government began tracking it in 2009. China, Japan, Taiwan, the United States, and Thailand were the top countries of origin, in that order, and the ministry pointed to rising demand for dermatology treatment as one reason patients are concentrating in Seoul.
What to Send Before You Book
An interpreter helps during the appointment, but consultation time is still limited. I ask patients to send the following before confirming a date:
- Name, arrival date, and departure date
- The one or two skin concerns you most want addressed
- Any procedures you've had in the past year, with names and approximate dates
- Current medications and allergies
- The name of a specific treatment, if you already have one in mind
When this arrives ahead of time, the consultation can go toward a decision instead of translation. It also lets us give you a cost range before you travel, so there's less to re-explain once you're in the room.
Schedule the Procedure Early in the Stay
For patients staying only a few days, I recommend scheduling the main procedure near the start of the trip. Swelling and redness are easier to manage if there's still time in Korea to check on them before you fly home.
A procedure booked the night before departure leaves little room to see how the skin is responding. Recovery timing differs by treatment, so the exact spacing is something we work out together after the diagnosis.
Where You Recover Afterward
Our Gangnam location operates inside UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam, a UHC group hotel, as an on-site facility inside the hotel itself, not a separate building reached only by appointment. Guests staying at that hotel can return to their room after treatment without leaving the building. Procedures can also take place in a private treatment room.
Guests of UHC hotels can choose one complimentary recovery option: a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip. Using both during the same stay means the vitamin IV is billed at 55,000 KRW. Terms can change, so it's worth confirming the current conditions when you book.
If you're arriving through Gangnam station, our guide on getting from the subway to the Gangnam location covers the walk in more detail. Before your appointment, it also helps to read what to confirm before signing a procedure consent form, since that's usually the last step before treatment begins.
