Whether a Seoul clinic has Chinese-speaking staff is something you confirm through the clinic's own information or a direct booking inquiry, never by assumption. Our Gangnam branch keeps interpreter staff on hand for Japanese, Chinese, and English. Before you book, confirm three things: which languages are supported, which branch you are visiting, and what health information to send ahead of time.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, lead physician at the Gangnam branch of UH CELL.
For patients visiting Seoul on a short trip, language is often the first filter when choosing a clinic. Here is how I'd suggest confirming interpreter support before you book.
Language support at the Gangnam branch
Our Gangnam branch has interpreter staff on site who can support Japanese, Chinese, and English. The branch sits on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam hotel building, at 13 Teheran-ro 8-gil.
This interpreter coverage applies to the Gangnam branch specifically. If you're planning to visit our Seocho branch (UH FLAT The Seocho) instead, please ask about supported languages separately when you book, since staffing can differ by location.
Why medical interpretation matters
Korea's Act on Support for Overseas Expansion of Medical Services and Attraction of International Patients sets out, under Article 13, that the Minister of Health and Welfare may train medical interpreters, provide continuing education for them, and run a certification exam for medical interpretation ability. Korean policy treats medical interpretation as its own specialized, certified field.
That matters in skin treatment specifically. Your current skin condition, previous procedures, allergies, and any medication you're taking all need to be communicated accurately before a diagnosis or treatment plan can be made. I don't treat language support as a convenience add-on. I treat it as a condition tied to safety.
Three things to confirm before you book
- Supported languages: Confirm through the clinic's official information whether interpreter staff are on site and whether Chinese is covered.
- Which branch: Confirm that the language support you read about applies to the branch you're actually visiting.
- Health information: Prepare your prior treatment history, allergies, and current medications in advance, and share them when you book.
If you're also weighing whether to book through an agency or directly, we've laid out the considerations in Should You Book a Korean Dermatology Clinic Through an Agency or Directly?.
FAQ
Does interpreter support apply to every UH CELL location?
The Chinese, Japanese, and English interpreter staff described here are specific to our Gangnam branch. If you're booking at our Seocho branch, confirm language support separately at the time of booking.
What health information should I send before my appointment?
Share your previous treatment history, any allergies, and medications you're currently taking when you make your booking, so your consultation can start from accurate information.
Is checking interpreter availability only about convenience?
No. Accurate communication about your skin condition, history, and medications directly affects diagnosis and treatment planning, so we see language support as part of safe care rather than a side benefit.
