Apgujeong is a neighborhood inside Seoul's Gangnam-gu, not a separate region. UH CELL Clinic's Gangnam branch director explains why clinics, not districts, should be compared before choosing dermatology care in Seoul.
Apgujeong is not a separate region set alongside Gangnam — it's a neighborhood inside Seoul's Gangnam-gu. So "Gangnam vs. Apgujeong" is really a comparison within the same district, and a neighborhood name alone won't tell you what a clinic actually offers. I'd rather you compare clinics directly than compare neighborhoods.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Yeonjin, director of UH CELL Clinic's Gangnam branch. Patients visiting Seoul often ask me whether Gangnam or Apgujeong is the "better" area for dermatology care, as if the two were competing districts. The honest answer reframes the question: this should be decided clinic by clinic, not neighborhood by neighborhood.
Apgujeong Sits Inside Gangnam-gu
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government's published breakdown of neighborhoods (dong) by autonomous district, Gangnam-gu is made up of 22 administrative dong and 14 legal dong, and Apgujeong-dong, Sinsa-dong, Cheongdam-dong, and Yeoksam-dong all fall under Gangnam-gu. The same data shows that the administrative dong of Apgujeong actually combines the legal dong of Apgujeong and the legal dong of Sinsa — the boundaries of these neighborhoods overlap rather than sit cleanly side by side.
Search results tend to treat "Gangnam" and "Apgujeong" as if they were separate areas, but administratively they're the same district. That's why I think picking a neighborhood name is the wrong first step. Comparing specific clinics against the same criteria gets you a more accurate answer.
What to Check Clinic by Clinic, Not Neighborhood by Neighborhood
When patients ask me how to evaluate a clinic regardless of which dong it sits in, I point to three things:
Is the medical staff's background disclosed? Look for verifiable facts on the clinic's own site — education, training, and professional society activity — rather than vague claims.
Is consultation available in your language? You need to understand your diagnosis in your own language or in English before you can agree to a treatment plan.
Are recovery care conditions disclosed? If you're visiting on a short trip, where and how you rest after a procedure affects your whole itinerary.
How This Looks at Our Gangnam Branch
Our Gangnam branch operates as an on-site facility inside UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam, a UHC group hotel, on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the WD building at Teheran-ro 8-gil 13. Procedures are performed in private treatment rooms.
I'm a graduate of Seoul National University's graduate school and trained as a resident at Seoul National University Hospital. I serve as Allergan faculty for Juvederm and Botox, and as a Key Doctor for Potenza and Ultherapy. I'm also an instructor with the Korean Society of Clinical Aesthetic Medicine and a regular member of the Korean Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Laser Medicine.
Our Gangnam branch has interpreting staff on-site for Japanese, Chinese, and English. On the recovery side, guests staying at a UHC group hotel can choose one complimentary option — a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip. If you use both, the vitamin IV drip is priced at 55,000 KRW.
Which procedure is actually right for you is something we determine after assessing your skin, and skin response and recovery time vary from person to person. I'd encourage you to start with that diagnosis rather than with a neighborhood name.
