In radiofrequency lifting consultations, Thermage, Oligio X, and Density are often compared. As a physician, I do not start by asking which device is the most expensive. I first consider the patient’s skin condition, pain sensitivity, budget, and treatment goal.

RF lifting focuses on collagen renewal
Monopolar radiofrequency lifting delivers heat energy into the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin renewal. When the skin begins to feel thinner and less firm, RF lifting can help support skin tightness and slow visible aging.
It is not usually a treatment that dramatically changes the face at once. It is closer to building a stronger foundation for skin elasticity, especially for patients beginning aesthetic care in their late twenties or thirties.
Oligio X may reduce pain and cost burden
Thermage has a long clinical history, strong energy delivery, and longer-lasting results, but it can involve more pain and higher cost. Oligio X is often more approachable because it tends to be less painful and more accessible for first-time RF lifting patients.
If aging is still mild and the concern is early laxity, fine lines, or loose skin texture, Oligio X may be enough. The key is not simply choosing the cheaper option, but matching the device to the current stage of the skin.
The most expensive device is not always the answer
RF lifting should be selected by balancing results, pain, and cost. Patients who cannot visit often may prefer long-lasting options, while those who fear pain or are starting their first treatment may be better suited to Oligio X.
I evaluate skin thickness, degree of laxity, fine lines location, pain sensitivity, and the patient’s follow-up schedule. Oligio X is not the answer for every face, but for the right patient, it can be a practical starting point for RF lifting.
