Comparing Ultherapy Costs in Korea: Four Things to Check

A lower number on a Korean Ultherapy quote does not automatically mean a lower total cost. The device version, the number of treatment lines behind that number, whether a tax refund still applies in 2026, and how a short stay is scheduled around recovery all change what the quote actually buys. I walk through these four points with every patient before I discuss a figure.

Patients traveling from abroad almost always open the consultation with the same question: how much less does this cost in Seoul than at home? I do not answer that with a figure right away. I first confirm that we are comparing the same treatment.

The Same Name Does Not Mean the Same Device

Several ultrasound lifting devices share a category name, but they differ in which tissue layer they reach and whether the practitioner can see that layer while treating it. Merz Aesthetics announced in November 2025 that its Ultherapy PRIME platform delivers energy while imaging the tissue in real time, and that the U.S. FDA has cleared it for the arms and abdomen in addition to the face, neck, and décolletage it already covered. A treatment area that has only recently gained clearance is not always offered on an older platform, so two quotes that both say "Ultherapy" may not even cover the same body area. When you line up two estimates, check the device name, the version, and the treatment area together, not the price alone.

A Quote Without a Matched Line Count Cannot Be Compared

Ultherapy pricing is built around the number of lines delivered, and the lines a given area needs depend on skin thickness, the cause of the laxity, and any earlier procedures in that area. I do not set a line count before an in-person assessment, and whether the treatment should be combined with another procedure is decided at the same time. When one quote lists a lower line count and another lists a full course, the price gap looks large, but the two are not describing the same session. Ask for the line count and the depth setting behind any number before you set it next to another clinic's estimate.

Korea's Foreign-Patient VAT Refund No Longer Applies in 2026

This is the part of the budget that has actually changed. Newsis reported in July 2025 that under that year's tax code revision, the special value-added tax refund for foreign tourists' cosmetic medical services would end on December 31, 2025. Hankyung reported in July 2026 that a bill to extend the refund through the end of 2027 has been referred to a National Assembly subcommittee, and that under the original program the refund returned 10 percent of the amount paid for cosmetic and aesthetic medical services. If an older review or blog post still factors that 10 percent back into today's estimate, the math no longer holds, since the refund is not currently in effect. Ask any clinic to confirm in writing whether VAT is already included in the number you are given.

Does the quoted price include VAT?

Ask the clinic to confirm in writing whether the number already includes value-added tax. Since the foreign-patient refund special provision does not apply in 2026, that tax stays in your total budget rather than being returned afterward.

Can the line count be fixed before a consultation?

Usually not in a way that holds up. Skin thickness and the cause of the laxity need to be checked in person before the depth and line count are set, and whether to combine Ultherapy with another treatment is decided at the same time.

Can I fly home the same day as the procedure?

We set the schedule individually in consultation. Some swelling or tightness can remain afterward, so where possible I recommend building in at least one extra day to check how you are recovering before you travel.
