Rejuran Healer vs Hyaluronic Booster: How to Choose

Rejuran Healer and hyaluronic acid hydration injections work on different signals in the skin, not different strengths of one treatment. Dr. Kim Yeonjin explains how ingredient, goal, and recovery timeline decide which fits a short Seoul visit.

Rejuran Healer is a polynucleotide (PN) skin booster placed in the dermis to help skin rebuild its own recovery capacity, while a hyaluronic acid hydration injection fills moisture and texture into the dermis right away. The choice comes down to three questions: which ingredient matches what the skin needs, what the treatment goal actually is, and how much recovery time the sessions require. For a visit with a fixed number of days in Seoul, that third question often decides more than the first two.

Rejuran Healer vs Hyaluronic Booster: How to Choose

Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Yeonjin, head physician at UH CELL Clinic's Gangnam location.

This is the question I hear most often in consultation, and I don't answer it by ranking the two treatments from strongest to weakest. I start by asking what signal each ingredient sends to the skin, then match that signal to what the patient's skin is actually doing.

What Each Ingredient Does

Polynucleotide is a high-molecular-weight fragment purified from salmon and other fish-derived DNA. A laboratory study archived in the U.S. National Library of Medicine's PMC database, using senescent cell and aged animal models, found that PN activates the adenosine A2A receptor pathway in macrophages, which changes how those cells and nearby fibroblasts behave and increases collagen synthesis as a result. Because the evidence sits at the cell and animal-model stage, how strongly this translates to a given patient's skin still varies by individual.

Hyaluronic acid works differently: it draws and holds water once placed in the dermis, so its effect on hydration and surface texture is more immediate. Lee and colleagues, writing in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2024, followed 20 patients with an average age in their mid-50s who received three intradermal micro-injections two weeks apart. By week 8 their wrinkle scores had dropped about 40 percent, and roughly a third of that improvement was still measurable at week 12. The study had no control group and enrolled a small, single-site group, so it points to a trend rather than a guarantee.

When Each Option May Be Considered

  • PN (Rejuran Healer) may be considered when the goal is to support the skin's own recovery environment over time, such as after sun exposure, repeated irritation, or a general slowdown in skin turnover.
  • Hyaluronic acid hydration injections may be considered when the priority is moisture and surface texture in an area that needs a more immediate change.
  • A combined plan may be considered when a patient wants both effects and the schedule allows more than one visit.

I don't start by picking a product name. I check skin thickness, elasticity, and treatment history first, because those findings decide which signal the skin needs and at what depth.

Sessions and Recovery, Planned Together

Both treatments use a fine needle placed at multiple points, so mild swelling and light bruising for a few days are possible with either one; how much varies by patient. PN-based results tend to build across a series of sessions spaced apart, so I plan those in a sequence rather than a single visit. When an area needs hydration quickly, I look at hyaluronic acid first, since its effect on moisture shows sooner.

What I Check Before Treatment

  • Current skin thickness and elasticity in the treatment area
  • Any previous filler, booster, or energy-device treatments in the same area
  • Sensitivity to bruising and how much visible downtime the schedule allows
  • Whether the goal is longer-term recovery, immediate hydration, or both

Rejuran HB+ and Rejuran Healer Are Not the Same Choice

Rejuran HB+ combines PN with hyaluronic acid in one formulation, so it is considered when a patient wants recovery support and hydration addressed together. Rejuran Healer keeps the focus on PN alone. I've laid out how the Healer's PN layer compares against newer injectable exosome products in a separate breakdown of Rejuran Healer against exosome boosters, which is worth reading if exosome treatments are also on your list.

When to Contact the Clinic

Most swelling settles within a few days. Contact the clinic rather than waiting it out if you notice:

  • Redness, warmth, and pain occurring together at the injection site
  • A firm lump that has not shrunk after several weeks, or one that is getting larger

Where This Fits at Our Gangnam Clinic

Our Gangnam location operates inside the UH FLAT SIGNATURE GANGNAM building, and Japanese-, Chinese-, and English-speaking interpreter staff are on site to support consultation and aftercare instructions. Guests staying at a UHC hotel can choose one complimentary option between a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip; using both means the vitamin IV drip is billed at 55,000 KRW. For a short-stay itinerary, that recovery support sitting inside the same building as the treatment room is often as relevant to the plan as the injection choice itself.

FAQ

Can I get both treatments in the same visit?

It depends on the treatment area and skin thickness. When both are done on the same day, I adjust the injection layer and amount for each so the two do not stack irritation on top of each other. Individual tolerance still varies.

If I choose hydration injections this visit, am I locked out of Rejuran Healer later?

No. The choice is based on the skin's condition at the time, not on treatment history, so we reassess at each visit. A hydration-focused visit now does not rule out a PN-based plan on a future trip.

How long does swelling or bruising usually last after either treatment?

Most patients see mild swelling or light bruising settle within about a week, though the exact timeline depends on the area treated and individual skin response. Anything that intensifies instead of fading, or comes with pain, is worth a follow-up call rather than waiting.

Do hyaluronic acid hydration injections need to be repeated as often as PN?

In the pilot study I mentioned above, three sessions two weeks apart produced improvement that had partly faded by week 12, which suggests hydration injections may need repeating on a similar interval to sustain the effect. PN-based plans are generally spaced further apart because the goal is a longer recovery process rather than an immediate fill.
