Rejuran Healer is a skin booster built on PN, and it works by creating an environment where damaged skin can repair itself. The change shows up gradually, and I design it to work on skin texture and elasticity together. A standard HA booster works differently: HA draws in and holds water, so the goal is hydration and a visible glow rather than a repair process.

Nark-Kyoung Rho, Hyun-Seok Kim, Soo-Young Kim, and Won Lee reviewed injectable skin boosters in a 2024 paper in Archives of Plastic Surgery, and they made the case that these injectables should be evaluated material by material, since each one has its own mechanism, clinical use, and level of supporting evidence. That is exactly how I approach a first consultation: I try to determine early on whether dryness is the primary complaint or whether the skin's own recovery capacity has declined, because that distinction changes which material I reach for. The Same Ingredient Can Behave Differently at a Different Depth

Ting Song Lim, Suyeon Lee, Diala Haykal, and Kyu-Ho Yi published a commentary in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2026 that looked specifically at where in the skin an HA booster is placed. Their argument is that intradermal HA boosters do improve skin quality, but the dermis itself is dense with nerve endings, small blood vessels, and immune activity, so a superficial injection into that layer causes pain and visible reactions in a meaningful number of patients. The same commentary explains that repeated superficial micro-injury can raise the risk of redness, post-inflammatory pigmentation, and a faster drop-off in how long the injected HA lasts. For some patients, the authors suggest, placing the product in the shallow subcutaneous layer just beneath the dermis can produce a similar improvement in skin quality with less discomfort and less visible inflammation. They frame the two depths as tools to be used together depending on the patient, and they are careful to note that patient selection and outcomes by specific product still need more comparative research.

I apply that same reasoning at the injection stage as well as when choosing the product itself. Given the same HA booster, I still check skin thickness, how easily a patient bruises, and how much recovery time is available before their next commitment, and I adjust the injection layer and volume from there.

Because they serve different purposes, I sometimes design a plan that includes both. But putting a large volume of each into the same area at once can increase swelling and extend recovery, so I usually space them out and set an order based on the patient's priority concern.

When does each one start to show results?

HA-based boosters tend to produce a hydration effect that patients notice relatively early. PN-based treatments like Rejuran build gradually across sessions. Timing and degree vary from person to person.

How much recovery time should I plan for?

Small injection-site marks and light bruising usually fade within a few days, though it can take longer for patients with thinner skin or a tendency to bruise easily. If you have an important event coming up, I'd suggest booking with some buffer before it.
