Skin Booster Results: Product Name or Session Plan?

Skin booster results track injection depth and session count, not the product name. Here's the research behind why we plan sessions before naming a product.

TL;DR: Skin booster results depend more on injection depth and how many sessions are spread out than on which product goes in. Clinical research on hyaluronic acid skin boosters found that splitting treatment into three sessions produced larger elasticity gains than a single session, and that hydration and elasticity measurements kept climbing for weeks after the last injection. At UH CELL Gangnam, we start with a skin diagnosis and build the session count and interval around it before we ever name a product.

Skin Booster Results: Product Name or Session Plan?

The question we hear most in consultations is which skin booster is the best one. The honest answer is that the product matters less than how deep it goes and how many times it's repeated at proper intervals. Two patients receiving the identical formulation can walk away with different results simply because one had a single session and the other had three spaced a month apart.

The Session Count Moves the Numbers More Than the Product Does

Researchers Linda Kleine-Börger, Matthias Hofmann, and Martina Kerscher ran a randomized trial published in Skin Research and Technology in 2022 that isolated this variable directly. Fifteen subjects were randomized so some received three treatments of a hyaluronic acid skin quality booster into the lower cheek dermis, four weeks apart, while others received the same total product in a single session. The three-session group showed clearer improvement in skin elasticity and fatigue resistance than the single-session group, even though the product and the total volume were comparable.

That single study will not tell any one patient how many sessions they personally need. It does establish that the number of times an injection is repeated, and the spacing between repetitions, changed the biophysical outcome independent of the formulation.

How Long It Takes for Wrinkle Improvement to Show Up

A separate pilot study from Yonsei University's Severance Hospital, led by Joo Hee Lee and colleagues and published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2024, followed twenty patients in their thirties through sixties. Each received three intradermal injections two weeks apart. By week eight, the Lemperle wrinkle scale, a standard dermatologist-rated grading tool, had dropped by an average of 40 percent from baseline. By week twelve the improvement had settled to roughly 33 percent, still well below the starting point. The same study recorded parallel gains in skin gloss, hydration, pore size, and surface roughness.

The timeline that follows matters for planning. Improvement builds gradually through the injection series and keeps shifting for weeks after the final session, which matters for anyone planning a short trip around a fixed departure date.

When the Hydration and Elasticity Actually Peak

A larger multicenter trial across six centers in China, enrolling 420 patients and published in Dermatologic Surgery, gives the clearest picture of timing. Patients received three full-face intradermal hyaluronic acid injections three weeks apart. Skin hydration rose progressively and peaked three weeks after the final injection; skin elasticity peaked a week later, at four weeks post-treatment. Injection site reactions were mild in nearly every case, occurred mostly on the day of treatment, and became less frequent with each subsequent session rather than more.

For a patient flying home three or four days after a last session, that timing detail carries real weight: the visible peak the research describes lands after departure, once the visit has already ended. That gap is exactly what a session plan needs to account for before treatment begins.

What We Check Before We Ever Name a Product

Our diagnosis at UH CELL Gangnam starts with skin hydration levels, the distribution of fine lines and pores, and any tendency toward flushing, before we decide on injection depth, volume per zone, and the interval between sessions. A patient staying three days and a patient who can return to Seoul get different plans, each built around that patient's own travel window.

Our Gangnam location sits on the second and third floors of the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam hotel, so a patient can return directly to a room after treatment without further travel, through the first 24 hours when irritation and swelling are most noticeable. Hotel guests receive the oxygen chamber and vitamin IV drip at no charge. Japanese, Chinese, and English-speaking staff are on site to walk through session spacing and aftercare in a patient's own language. Dr. Kim Yeonjin, who leads care at the Gangnam location, completed graduate study at Seoul National University and clinical training at Seoul National University Hospital.

FAQ

Does a single session still produce results?

A single session can still move hydration measurements, based on the research above. Elasticity and skin fatigue gains, however, were consistently larger in the multi-session groups across the studies cited here. If a visit only allows for one session, we plan the interval for a return round at the same time.

Is it safe to go out in public the day after treatment?

The multicenter trial recorded injection site reactions mostly appearing on treatment day and resolving within one to two weeks, with reactions becoming less frequent after the first session. Adjusting injection point count and depth can also make a next-day schedule more comfortable.

How long does the improvement actually last?

The Yonsei pilot study tracked patients through twelve weeks and found the improvement partially sustained at that point. What happens after that depends on baseline skin condition, daily sun exposure and skincare habits, and how the next session is timed, which is why we set a return interval during the same diagnosis visit rather than leaving it open-ended.
