Why recovery location has become the deciding factor

For nearly a decade, part of the reason price comparisons dominated these conversations was a VAT refund available to foreign visitors on cosmetic and dermatology procedures. That changed at the start of this year. Following the Ministry of Economy and Finance's 2025 tax reform review, the refund program for foreign patients undergoing cosmetic and dermatological procedures ended on January 1, 2026. With that discount gone, patients working from the same travel budget are weighing structure over sticker price: what happens between the treatment chair and the flight home is now a bigger differentiator than a percentage off the bill.

A short stay makes the commute part of the treatment plan

A patient with a five-day window typically follows a familiar rhythm: a morning procedure, a quiet afternoon indoors, and an evening back at the hotel managing swelling and soreness. The physical toll of getting between the clinic and the hotel competes directly with the time available for the body to recover. The farther apart those two places sit, the less real recovery time is left in the day. Our structure: the treatment room and the hotel room share a building

We designed our Gangnam location around this exact problem. It sits on the second and third floors of the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam hotel, not as a separate clinic with a partnership agreement, but inside the same building where guests are staying. Hotel guests receive a complimentary oxygen chamber session and a vitamin IV drip, and after a procedure, the trip back to a room is an elevator ride rather than a taxi or subway transfer. Our Seocho location follows the same layout inside the UH FLAT The Seocho building, so the same recovery path applies there.

Diagnosis comes before device selection

Lifting treatments work by stimulating tissue at different depths: some target the SMAS layer, the deeper structural layer of the face, while others work on the more superficial dermis. Choosing a device by name alone, without first identifying which layer actually needs to be addressed, is how results end up falling short of what a patient expected. We apply this same diagnosis-first approach when planning combined lifting and anti-aging treatment for patients in their 40s, whose collagen changes require a different order of operations.

Our Gangnam director, Dr. Kim Yeonjin, completed graduate study at Seoul National University and trained at Seoul National University Hospital, and has served as an Allergan faculty member for filler and Botox education. Our Seocho director, Dr. Kim Kyungsoo, is a graduate of Seoul National University College of Medicine and holds medical licenses in both Korea and Japan, which allows Japanese patients to verify his clinical background through their own country's licensing system.
