Visiting Seoul for Skin Boosters? Plan Recovery First

Skin boosters, Rejuran, and exosomes recover on different timelines because they enter the skin differently. UH CELL Gangnam's director explains what a short-stay visitor to Seoul should check before flying home.

If you're in Seoul for only a few days, the question that matters most isn't which glass-skin treatment sounds best. It's whether the injection site calms down before your flight home. Skin boosters and Rejuran go into the skin; exosome products sold in Korea are cosmetics applied on top of it. That one difference decides your recovery schedule and the order you should book treatments in.

Visiting Seoul for Skin Boosters? Plan Recovery First

Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Yeonjin, director of UH CELL Clinic's Gangnam branch, located inside UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam. When a patient's stay is short, I ask how many days are left before anything else, because that number decides what we can safely plan.

Skin Boosters: Redness and Small Bumps Usually Settle Within a Week

Hyaluronic acid skin boosters work by placing small droplets of HA into the dermis in a grid pattern. The FDA's Summary of Safety and Effectiveness Data for SkinVive by Juvéderm, a product in this same injection category, recorded that 68.8% of the 199 study participants had redness after the first treatment, and 72.9% of reactions were mild to moderate and resolved within 7 days. In the same data, 3 participants (1.5%) developed small lumps that took 12 to 15 months to resolve. AbbVie's directions for use for that product also instruct patients to avoid makeup for 12 hours and to avoid strenuous exercise, strong sun or heat exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment. These figures describe one HA skin booster studied for its own approval; I don't apply them to every product in the category, and neither should you when comparing options.

Rejuran: Build the Emboss Marks Into Your Schedule

Rejuran is a polynucleotide (PN) injection registered as a medical device by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. A 2025 split-face study on PN injections published in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery described a temporary, localized bump at the injection point, roughly 2-3mm, sometimes called an "emboss" mark, that fades over time rather than appearing permanently. Injection depth changes how much of this swelling, bruising, and discomfort a patient experiences; I covered that separately in Rejuran Pain and Bruising: Safer Treatment Starts With Injection Depth, which is worth reading if pain tolerance or visible bruising is part of your decision.

Exosomes: Recovery Time Follows Whatever Procedure You Pair Them With

Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has stated that injecting a substance into the skin with a syringe or microneedle is limited to drugs and medical devices; a cosmetic, by definition, is applied by rubbing, patting, or spraying onto the skin's surface. Dailypharm reported that exosome products sold domestically are registered mainly as cosmetics rather than drugs or devices. In practice, this means an exosome product on its own doesn't carry its own injection downtime. If you're combining it with a laser or another procedure, plan your recovery window around that other procedure, not around the exosome step.

Three Things to Confirm Before You Fly Home

  • If you have active acne or a rash at the treatment site, that area may need to wait. AbbVie's SkinVive instructions also call for treating inflammation before injecting.
  • If you're getting an HA skin booster, make sure the 24 hours afterward are free of alcohol and heavy heat exposure, such as saunas or sunbathing.
  • If redness, heat, or pain is increasing, or a lump hasn't gone down after a week, see a clinician before your return flight rather than after.

Our Gangnam branch sits inside UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam, so a short-stay patient's hotel stay and clinic visit happen in the same building. Guests staying at an UHC hotel can choose one complimentary service, either a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip; using both means the IV drip is billed at 55,000 KRW. We also have Japanese, Chinese, and English-speaking interpreting staff on site.

Skin response and recovery time vary from person to person. Please discuss your specific diagnosis and treatment plan with a licensed clinician before booking.
