Rejuran, Water Glow, or Exosomes: Pick by Ingredient Class

Water-glow (HA) injections, Rejuran Healer (PN), and exosome treatments are often compared by brand name, but they sit in different ingredient classes with different approval categories and goals. Here is how to tell them apart before choosing one for glass-skin results.

Water-glow injections, Rejuran Healer, and exosome treatments are often asked about as if they were interchangeable options for glass skin, but they sit in different ingredient classes with different goals. Hyaluronic acid (HA) boosters add immediate hydration and radiance, polynucleotide (PN) boosters work over several sessions to support a tired dermis, and exosome products currently carry a cosmetic classification rather than an injectable one in Korea. The starting point for choosing between them is the ingredient name and its approval category, not the brand name a patient happens to have heard.

Rejuran, Water Glow, or Exosomes: Pick by Ingredient Class

Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Yeonjin, director of UH CELL Clinic's Gangnam branch.

Patients who travel from abroad often open the consultation with a nickname rather than an ingredient: water-glow injection, baby skin shot, exosome treatment. I rarely answer that question with a brand comparison first. I ask what is actually being placed in the dermis, because a nickname by itself does not tell me which ingredient is in the syringe.

Why Ingredient Class Comes Before Product Name

A treatment nickname travels across markets faster than the regulatory facts behind it. The same word can describe an HA filler in one country and a cosmetic serum in another. Before comparing results, I separate patients into two broad goals: an immediate boost in surface radiance, or a slower rebuild of a dermis that has stopped responding the way it used to. That distinction, more than any single product name, decides which ingredient class belongs in the plan.

HA Boosters: Radiance on a Shorter Timeline

Water-glow injections and HA-based boosters such as Skinvive place fine hyaluronic acid droplets into the dermis to hold water close to the skin's surface. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Skinvive by Juvederm in 2023 for improving cheek smoothness in adults 21 and older, a milestone documented in Pharmacy Times' coverage of the approval and in Drugs.com's approval history record for the product. Allergan's own randomized trial of 124 patients, cited alongside that approval, reported that satisfaction with skin radiance rose from 11 percent before treatment to 63 percent at the six-month mark. That figure reflects a patient-reported outcome. Because HA is gradually absorbed, holding the result requires a refill interval planned from the first visit.

PN Boosters: Supporting a Dermis That Has Slowed Down

Rejuran Healer works differently. It places polynucleotides (PN) in the dermis instead of hyaluronic acid, and it is designed around several sessions rather than one visible lift. An expert-perspective paper in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology describes how polynucleotides may form a water-retaining scaffold in the dermis and may stimulate fibroblast activity, while noting plainly that the precise mechanism is still under study. I recommend PN less for an immediate glow and more for skin that has lost its baseline resilience, where the goal is gradual improvement in the dermal environment through repeated sessions.

Where Exosomes Actually Sit

Exosomes raise a different question before any radiance comparison even starts: what is the product classified as. Medical Times reported that Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare has repeatedly stated that injecting cosmetic-grade products, including exosome preparations, through a syringe in a medical setting conflicts with existing medical regulation. Separately, Doctors News reported that Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has approved exosome products as a topical cosmetic, a different approval category from an injectable. If a patient has heard "exosome treatment" used as a catch-all term, the consultation needs to confirm the ingredient name and its approval category first, the same way it would for any other booster.

Three Things I Check Before We Build a Plan

  • The ingredient name (HA, PN, or otherwise) and its approval category, confirmed in the consultation rather than assumed from a nickname
  • Return-flight timing, since injection marks and swelling can remain visible for a period, making a treatment scheduled right before departure rarely the safer choice
  • A maintenance plan appropriate to the ingredient: a refill interval for HA, or a session count and spacing for PN

Our Gangnam branch is located inside the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam hotel. Guests staying at a UHC group hotel may choose one of either a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip at no charge, and if a guest uses both, the vitamin IV is billed separately at 55,000 KRW.

FAQ

Can I get a water-glow injection and Rejuran Healer in the same visit?

The two address different goals, so combining them is sometimes appropriate. Whether to do both on the same day or space them apart depends on skin thickness, sensitivity, and how long the patient is staying in Seoul, which we review together in consultation.

If I also have sagging skin, is a skin booster enough on its own?

A skin booster addresses dermal texture and hydration. If visible sagging is also present, we discuss combining it with a lifting procedure in stages rather than relying on a booster alone to address both concerns.

Can I describe the treatment using a name I heard in another country?

Yes. In the consultation, we confirm which ingredient that name actually refers to before finalizing a plan, since the same nickname does not always refer to the same product everywhere.

※ Individual skin response and recovery time can vary. Please consult a licensed physician for an exact diagnosis and treatment plan.
